5 REASONS TO VISIT CAFE GERBEAUD IN BUDAPEST

My mom introduced me to this amazing little gem in Budapest and ever since I had my first “Budapest breakfast” at Cafe Gerbeaud, I keep coming back every time I’m in town. Here are 5 reasons why you should too:

1. CAFE GERBEAUD HAS THE BEST BREAKFAST IN BUDAPEST

Budapest Breakfast – 5 Reasons to Visit Cafe Gerbeaud

You can choose between several types of breakfast, typical for the cities they’re named after – London, Oslo, Basel, Rome and Budapest. Raised in Sweden by two Hungarian parents, I learned to love and long for Hungarian food. Therefore, my favorite breakfast in Café Gerbeaud is obviously the Budapest breakfast. Salami, ham, cheese, Hungarian paprika and tomato, kifli (a half moon shaped sort of bread roll). My mouth waters just writing this.

2. PERFECT STARTING POINT FOR BUDAPEST SIGHTSEEING

Located at Vörösmarty Square, Cafe Gerbeaud is the perfect place to start your sightseeing after having the best breakfast of your life. You’re close to Saint Stephens Basilica and the Chain Bridge, which leads to the Buda Castle. There’re also some shops at Vörösmarty Square, because why not?

3. CAFE GERBEAUD’S SWEET AND SAVORY CHOICES

Fancy some coffee and a cake? A salad? Or a Sandwich? There’re various sorts of cookies, cakes and coffee to choose from. Not to mention the fresh salads and sandwiches, which all taste heavenly.

4. ARCHITECHTURE AND HISTORY AT CAFE GERBEAUD

Café Gerbeaud opened in 1858 and has kept its striking interior with the attention to details. This is my first stop whenever I´m in Budapest.

5. MICHELIN RESTAURANT NEXT DOOR TO CAFE GERBEAUD

Whatever you order will obviously be awesome. Onyx, a Michelin Guide recommended restaurant lies just next to Café Gerbeaud and is well worth a visit. One of the chefs, Tamás Széll won Bocuse d´Or Europe in 2016 – the most prestigious award in gastronomy. Congratulations are in order!
